About Me

My name is Ryan Brue. I’m a software engineer, and in my free time, I like working out, playing video games, and contributing to open source.

I got my start contributing to the Godot Engine. After being a part of that community for a while, I noticed that a lot of people were using Linux as their main operating system. I got interested in potentially installing Linux onto my main system. Then, in late October of 2023, I impulsively downloaded Fedora Linux, and installed it on both my laptop and my desktop, no dual-boot, just plain fresh install. From there, I’ve never gone back.

After I downloaded Linux, I got involved with the Linux community in lots of areas.

Linux Contributions

COSMIC

In early 2024, I created the Fedora COSMIC special interest group. Through that group, I helped create the Fedora COSMIC Spin and it officially became a spin for Fedora 42 and beyond. As of late 2025, I still maintain the Fedora COSMIC spin and its packages.

I’ve also contributed directly to the COSMIC desktop, of which some of my favorite contributions include:

Miscellaneous Contributions

I write most of my code in Rust and Python, and at work I write a lot of C# code (unwillingly).
